There are a myriad of choices when it comes to virus software; some good, some not so good.   But no matter how good your virus protection software is, none can guarantee that you won’t get infected.

In the event that you do – here are 3 easy free virus removal techniques that most anyone, with a little basic knowledge, can perform.

Free Virus Removal – Safe Mode

1. Booting in “Safe Mode”

Safe mode is a special mode that boots a system with only essential processes and services enabled. This will often prevent viruses from loading, thereby making virus removal easier.

So how do you boot in Safe Mode?

WINDOWS XP / WINDOWS 2000/ WINDOWS VISTA / WINDOWS 7

Turn on the computer and immediately Press and hold the “F8” Key, which should take you to the “Windows Advanced Options” Menu.  Use the “arrow” keys to select “Safe mode” or “Safe Mode with Networking”.

2. Launch your virus software

Follow the software’s (Free Anti-Virus Software)  instructions for running a “complete” or “deep scan”.  The software should identify the virus and give you the option to “heal”, “delete”, or “quarantine “ the infected file or files.  Once complete, run the software again just to make sure.  Often the process will find viruses the second time around that was missed on the first.

Most good virus programs will give you an easy option for doing so.  Note: You should not only scan your main hard drive, but any additional internal or external drives you may have as well as any flash drives you may use.

ONE LAST THING…  Have you backed up your computer lately?  If you haven’t, I suggest you do so immediately and regularly.  If you don’t, I can pretty much guarantee that, sooner or laterFree Articles, you’ll regret it!  With the low cost of external drives these days there’s just now excuse.  So what are you waiting for?
